TRAVEL WRITING

Before I had kids, travel was a huge part of my life. Back-packing around the world, discovering hidden corners of Europe or Asian Islands, spending summers in new locations every year - I lived for meeting new people and new places. Sadly, with three little ones in tow, we're now lucky to get away as far as Scotland during the summer break, and adventurous travel is truly in my past - until they're a little older, that is. There's also the whole Gobal Warming issue, which has made me cut down almost entirely on flying, so we're somewhat limited to UK travel for now. But I still think travel is vital for children growing up - how else can they truly learn about other people, other cultures and other countries, bring the good bits of what they've learned back home with them and learn to be a part of the Global Community?

So, as much as we can, we try to travel with our kids and the (mixed!) results are written up here for you to enjoy. Some has been published, some hasn't, but I'll keep updating as our travel continues, and hopefully you'll be inspired through my writing to visit some of these paces too.

Unpublished - Nice: Many think Nice is just for movie stars and seriously glamorous (or glamorously serious perhaps) grown ups. Not so, says Liz Fraser who spent part of her childhood there, and returned with her own brood to enjoy the best of the Cote d'Azur, en famille... (August 2006) >>

Unpublished - Scotland: Unpublished. Fancy a week of peace, fresh air and mountain walking in the Scottish Highlands? Here's a good place to start... >>
