READERS LETTERS

Dear Liz,

I just wanted to write and say a huge THANK YOU for writing 'The Yummy Mummy's Survival Guide' . I gave birth to my first child, Sapphire, in December last year and bought your book a few months before. Your honest, humourous and considerate approach to motherhood is fantastic. When Saphire arrived I read so many books hoping to find an instruction manual for my baby. ****and various other so-called 'baby gurus' just made me feel so inadequate. I went back to your book every time and during the first three months I repeated 'it doesn't get any harder than this' like a mantra. Even while pregnant your book made a welcome change from ****'s 'You Must Do This & That' approach. While it's not my intention to compare your books to others, I believe yours has filled a gaping hole in the baby-book market. Your 'this worked for me, it may work for you' approach is such a welcome relief because it makes me feel normal and gives me confidence in my own choices.

With the return to work looming I've just read your chapter on this subject and i feel better already. With best wishes for you and your family.

I'm writing because I've never laughed out loud and so often - Congratulations on your wonderful Yummy Mummy book. When I return the book [to my sister] I will suggest it stays by her bedside for her to refer to forever more!

Your clever turn of phrase and insight are terrific. You're 'a star!'. Sincerely,

Carol. New Zealand.

Hi Liz

Bought 'A Spoonful of Sugar' on Friday. Finished by Sunday. Absolutely brilliant. Just wish it had come out 20 or even 30 years ago.

I am lending the book to my daughter to read, although she has no children of her own, but I think its a book everyone should read, should be in the school curriculum actually.

Thank you so much. A real modern day Dr Spock.

Dear Liz,

As a mum of an 8 month old baby I would like to thank you very much for your Yummy Mummy Survival Guide. I love it. It has cracked me up so much and added a bit of humour to what can be an absolutly mental time in a girl's life!

Well done on your book I will be buying more, All the best,

Christina Newbould and Tommy xxxxx

Hi Liz,

I am in the middle of reading 'A Spoonful of Sugar' and wanted to say how much I am enjoying it. I am neither a mum nor pregnant though I hope to have a family some day. I am very keen on not losing the things our grandparents did and believed in when so many of these things make more sense than what we have now! Researching for this book must have been a really special time. I know my Nan would have shared many beliefs and principles to your Gran. This is so up my street that I wanted to say thank you. Good luck with your future books, I will definitely keep an eye out for them

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed her book 'The Yummy Mummy's Survival Guide'. Oh how I wished I had read it before [my baby] arrived - not only did I find the book extremely amusing (felt like I was listening to a friend) but the tips and her style of writing made me (for the first time in 8 months) feel normal and that I was doing things right! I can't wait until her new book is out... I'm going to suggest her books to all my 'yummy mummy' friends now!

Kind regards, Karen Cornell

Hi,

I love reading ur books!! My mother bought me your first book when I was pregnant with my daughter and it was like my bible!! I was a single mother without a clue in the world about children! Your book was such an easy read with bullet points, other mummies and daddies in the same situation. Since becoming engaged and having a second child your family book is always at reach. It's really great to read about how children should be children. I cannot wait to get your next book. Congrats on the brilliantly, helpful, beautiful books!
